Because business isn’t just about what you know, it’s about who you know.

Joe Weiss of Core Scaffold

Core Scaffold is what it sounds like, a business that rents scaffolding for construction sites. Sounds simple. But as you, our OJBA Inside Business readers know, NO business is simple! Each business leader we interview has a story to tell, and they’re ALL fascinating!

Scaffolding is something you must get right ONE HUNDRED percent of the time. That’s because a mistake in scaffolding can be dangerous, if not fatal. So among other traits you need to bring to this business, is major attention to detail. From keeping the scaffolding in top condition to getting it where it needs to be on schedule (construction timelines are costly and often tight) to installing and maintaining it properly, it’s quite a challenge. And it’s definitely not a business for the faint of heart.

One of the challenges is getting the scaffolding to construction sites. It is costly and time-consuming and requires a lot of time and labor. For this reason, Core Scaffold services are based mostly in the five boroughs of NYC, with some spillover into New Jersey.

One of the outstanding features of the Core Scaffolding business model is their strong work ethic. “We respond to calls very quickly, usually within a half hour.” says Joe. “Our clients are busy and we don’t like to keep them waiting.” Joe also keeps the communication current because he has a near “ zero inbox” policy. Meaning, that every single email gets dealt with quickly, usually within 2-3 hours. “ I hate having a full inbox so I deal with stuff asap.”

Core also applies their meticulous work ethic to their approach to pricing jobs, something they do in great detail. “We’re on top of every detail. We literally don’t miss a bump in the sidewalk.” Every project also gets a 3D presentation too, something Core Scaffold innovated many years before it was an industry standard.

Core Scaffold brings the same expertise and commitment to any size project they do. “I don’t care if you’re building a skyscraper or renovating a small deli, the quality of the service will be exactly the same! I’m not looking for the project, I’m looking for the client.”
