To the uneducated, one garage door seems a lot like another. But that’s a mistake, according to Zuroch Spira. Like everything else these days, garage doors have evolved. “We do beautiful custom doors, as well as standard.” When people are building multi-million dollar homes they often want garage doors that fit the overall look and feel of the home, and that’s where custom comes in.
Zuroch came into this business after first working in construction. “I was looking for an opportunity, and realized only one company was doing this. There was a gap in the market I could take advantage of.”
His first job definitely didn’t go so easily, though.
“I installed three doors- two times each! There were no YouTube videos to learn from. It was a lot of trial and error.” Even all these years later, with a team doing the installations and service it’s a rare week that goes by that doesn’t find him with a drill or a hammer in his hand at least once. “It’s good for my workers to see that I still know how to do the job. It keeps things very stable. When they’re unsure about something we Facetime and I take a look at what needs to be fixed. In my business, my hands-on experience is very valuable when it comes to problem-solving.“
Zuroch’s been exhibiting at OJBA since the very first show and he plans to keep doing so. “We talk to our clients on the phone all the time, but rarely see them in person. I love that I get to meet so many of my clients face to face in one day- for that alone it’s worth coming every year!”
