Because business isn’t just about what you know, it’s about who you know.
Arye Krausz of Rock Brokerage
They call themselves “rockstars” and for good reason. Nothing to do with music- but ACTUAL rocks. That’s because Rock Brokerage doesn’t have anything in common with traditional brokerages- and a lot more to do withrocks. Rock Brokerage, founded eight years ago, removes dirt (and sometimes rocks) from construction sites in NYC. If you’ve ever wondered where all those tons of soil that are removed from a construction project go, now’s your time to find out…and it might not make you so happy ( if you’re from New Jersey or Pennsylvania…)
Eight years ago, Arye Krausz was in the logistics business. He hauled freight cross-country by road and rail. One day he came across a job site that was a full city block long and that’s how the Rock Brokerage story began. “The site manager approached me and asked me if I could help them remove 150 loads of soil a day. I said sure- if I can make money on it!” The principle of hauling freight or dirt was the same; so it was a natural fit. And that’s how Arye ended up where he is today- hauling contaminated soil and rocks across the NY state line to dispose of it in landfills and facilities primarily located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
These days Rock Brokerage offers more than just hauling dirt, they’ve also evolved into, “RockEnviro™”, an Environmental Consulting Firm providing services that are crucial for every property owner or real estate developer. NYC and State have a lot of regulations and requirements that are mandatory to be complied with and satisfied to obtain building permits, approvals and ultimately obtain their official Certificate of Occupancy. Boasting a team of environmental consultants seriously writing multiple professional reports that consists of thousands of pages written and reviewed for each job determining what action or remediation plan needs to be legally executed. The process is very rewarding and offers grant programs that benefit a nice ROI, profiting the owners.
