Managing Payments Through Agents and Merchant Relationships

Shlomo Weissman of SOLA

For businesses, accepting payments means more than choosing a platform — it means having someone in your corner when something goes wrong — whether it’s a transaction, a deposit, or a chargeback.

SOLA provides payment processing for merchants across the U.S. and Canada, covering online and in-person payments. The service is delivered through a network of agents who manage merchant accounts directly, supported by in-house teams handling customer service, technical issues, and gateway questions.

For a merchant, that often means dealing with a specific person who knows the account — rather than a general support line.

Over the past year, that network has grown.

“We’ve welcomed a lot of new agents… and a lot of new merchants as well,” said Shlomo Weissman of SOLA.

Most of those relationships are maintained remotely. Merchants and agents coordinate over calls and emails, handling day-to-day issues without ever meeting in person.

At OJBA, that gap narrows — at least for a day. As the lanyard sponsor at this year’s show, SOLA brought together merchants and agents who rarely get the chance to meet face to face. Weissman described one moment that captured it: a merchant spotted an agent’s name on a badge and called it out — someone he had been working with for years, entirely over the phone.

“They never met each other… and they met for the first time,” Weissman said. “They got a picture and they hugged each other. It was amazing.”

Alongside those relationships, SOLA has also been updating its platform. During that time, the company rolled out a redesigned merchant portal — now in its second version — with a focus on usability and functionality.

“It’s completely redone from a user experience… much easier to use, nicer, cleaner and more features,” Weissman said.

Hear Shlomo Weissman explain how SOLA works with agents and merchants — and how those relationships play out day to day.
