Kosher Hot Water With the System You Already Have

Ronen Tadmor of Amnon 18

From washing hands to preparing for a meal, hot water is part of everyday life. Amnon 18 makes it possible to enjoy that convenience on Shabbos and Yom Tov in a halachically appropriate way.

Amnon 18 connects to the existing hot water system, allowing homeowners to continue using what they already have instead of replacing it. Compatible with any type of domestic hot water system, it offers another option for providing kosher hot water on Shabbos and Yom Tov.

Founder Ronen Tadmor explains:

“Amnon 18 will let you use kosher hot water during Shabbos, and Yom Tov.”

A minute before Shabbos begins, Amnon 18 checks the tank’s water level and temperature, then opens a valve to introduce cooler water into the tank and adjust the temperature. Until that process finishes, a second valve called the mashgiach valve keeps the hot water shut off completely. Once the water reaches the right temperature, the system automatically restores the hot water supply for the rest of Shabbos.

Ronen says the system includes more than 70 adjustable parameters, allowing it to be set up to suit each home’s requirements. Once connected to the home’s hot water system, homeowners use their hot water as they normally would. “During the week, you will use the water like we’re not even there,” he said.

Once the system is in place, there is nothing extra for homeowners to do before or after Shabbos. As Ronen puts it, “Everything is automatic.”

For homeowners, that means keeping the hot water system they already have while adding a solution for Shabbos and Yom Tov. For builders, plumbers, and contractors, it provides another option that can be integrated with a wide range of domestic hot water systems.

The first Amnon 18 system was installed in Montreal in 2017. Since then, Ronen has continued introducing the system to more communities while working toward the company’s goal of making kosher hot water technology more affordable and accessible.

This year, Amnon 18 traveled from Montreal, Canada, to exhibit at OJBA, giving Ronen the opportunity to introduce the system to builders, contractors, plumbers, and homeowners.
