Responding When Problems Can’t Wait

Sruly Weinberger of Gold Star Restoration

A pipe bursts at 2 AM. Water is spreading through multiple units, tenants are calling, and the damage is expanding by the minute. Someone needs to take control before morning.

Whether it’s water, fire, or mold-related damage, these are conditions that need to be handled immediately. That’s when Gold Star Restoration is called.

Based in Brooklyn, New York, Gold Star Restoration provides emergency restoration services for residential and commercial properties nationwide. The company operates across multiple states and continues to expand, with teams available around the clock when normal operations have been interrupted.

Sruly Weinberger explained that most clients don’t think about restoration until they suddenly need it. “You don’t need me now, but in two minutes from now when you’ll need me,” he said. “I’m here.”

That urgency defines much of the work. Gold Star is brought in to address immediate damage and begin the cleanup and restoration process so the problem doesn’t become harder to manage. In many cases, that also involves working directly with insurance carriers, allowing restoration and claims processes to move forward at the same time.

The company is an official emergency response provider for some of the largest property groups and insurance companies in the U.S. That status allows Gold Star to step in quickly and manage early recovery stages with fewer delays.

During conversations at the booth, Sruly shared an exchange that captured how the business works. Someone stopped by and said they didn’t need restoration services. Sruly’s response was simple: keep the number handy. A few days later, the call came — a burst pipe and an immediate need. It was exactly the situation he had been describing.

Beyond responding to emergencies, Sruly also emphasized prevention. Preparing sprinkler systems for winter, maintaining heat at a minimum of 55 degrees, and checking vacant properties regularly can help reduce the likelihood of urgent restoration work.

Gold Star’s presence at OJBA reflects that dual focus — being ready to respond when issues arise and helping property owners take steps that may prevent them.

Listen as Sruly talks about why Gold Star is often called with little warning… and how preparation can make a difference.
