When Cameras Need Someone Watching in Real Time
Yossi Eliav of US Virtual Guard
Most security cameras only become useful after something has already happened. By the time footage is reviewed, the incident is over.
US Virtual Guard closes that gap. Based in Brooklyn, the company oversees properties through a centralized command center… watching camera feeds around the clock and responding as activity unfolds.
Yossi Eliav explained that the service grew after October 7th, when community leaders were trying to secure buildings quickly, and the cost of on-site guards — often $25,000 to $30,000 per month — made continuous coverage difficult. Cameras alone, he noted, only help after the fact. “If we see someone coming onto a property, we can shout to them over a bullhorn and deter them,” Yossi said.
For many clients, the key distinction is who is doing the monitoring. US Virtual Guard built an in-house monitoring team, rather than relying on third-party overseas outsourcing — an important consideration for schools, community centers, and other sensitive environments where access and accountability matter.
The company also developed software that connects to existing camera systems without adding on-site hardware. Monitoring layouts are designed to keep operators focused, with rotating screen patterns and structured breaks built into each shift. Human monitoring is paired with AI-based alerts, creating separate layers that review the same feeds.
In practice, that setup allows issues to be addressed as they develop — including escalating to emergency services and using on-site speakers when needed — rather than reviewing footage afterwards.
US Virtual Guard now supports properties across multiple states and has grown to more than 100 employees. The company has dedicated sales coverage in Florida and Las Vegas, where the team is currently hiring.
This was US Virtual Guard’s first year exhibiting at OJBA. Yossi attended as a visitor last year and said the connections led to business after the show.
US Virtual Guard was also recently featured in Ami Magazine, following an interview recorded during the OJBA Mini Lunchbreak sessions.
